Some camera phones have 5 megapixel cameras that rival some of the lower end digital cameras but even with a 2 megapixel you can take great shots. They also allow the user to take videos, however it’s ok taking photos and videos on your phone, but how do you get them to your PC or laptop? There are different options available when it comes to transferring your photos and videos. You can send them via Bluetooth if your pc or laptop supports Bluetooth and the majority do, you can take the memory card out of the phone if it is hot swappable and insert it into the slot on your laptop, if it supports this method. Finally you can plug in a data cable and connect your phone to the PC or laptop and use the software that comes with the phone. So let’s have a look at connecting and transferring media via Bluetooth.
Sending your media via your Bluetooth connection

First turn on the Bluetooth on your phone. While each model of phone will differ slightly you can usually find the Bluetooth icon in the menu of your phone under “connections” or something similar. When you have navigated to this, then select it and then choose the “Bluetooth” icon. Make sure that Bluetooth is turned on and also your phones visibility is switched on.

Navigate through the phones menu to the location where you stored your photos, this will usually be the “SDcard” or “images” folder and find the photos you want to transfer this way and then click send via Bluetooth on the phones options menu. Your phone will then communicate with your computer and you should get a popup on your computer screen which asks you to accept the transfer, if this is the first time you have sent media to your PC or laptop then you could also be asked to set a password.

Once you have accepted the transfer then your phone will begin sending over the data, depending on the size of the photo/video or other media this can take just a couple of seconds. You will see the progress of the transfer on your phone and also on the screen of the computer.

All that’s left for you to do then is to navigate your way to where your stored the photos on the computer, which is usually, “Bluetooth inbox” in “My Documents” and your photos/videos should be there in all their glory.
